Diamond polished concrete garage floors
Floorcraft was asked to diamond polish two garage floors in Guernsey for a client with an impressive car collection. One of the concrete floors had been poured 10 years earlier, while the second was only a month old. But, as you can see by the photos, it doesn’t matter how old the concrete is – we get the same results! Both floors were diamond polished rather than coated with clear resin. The photos show the floors completely dry, so the gloss you can see is the polished concrete itself. This project also shows that an older concrete floor can potentially be polished rather than replaced, depending on its condition.
Westbourne, near Emsworth
Polishing a 20-year-old concrete floor
This project in Westbourne, near Emsworth, involved transforming a 20-year-old slab with a fascinating history. The building had originally been used as a chicken farm shed before becoming an industrial unit. The concrete bore deep, grid-like stains from a previous tenant’s wet-cleaned carpet tiles. Even after a thorough concrete grinding process that removed a full 5mm of the surface, faint traces of this pattern remained. Rather than seeing it as a flaw, we embraced this unique character. The final result is a beautifully durable, polished floor that tells the story of its past, proving that restored industrial concrete holds an authentic charm you simply can’t manufacture.
Birdham, near Chichester
Polished concrete floor - barn conversion
Floorcraft completed this barn conversion project in Birdham, near Chichester, from pouring the concrete slab through to the finished diamond polished floor. Where possible, we like to pour the concrete ourselves because getting the slab as flat as possible at the start helps us achieve a better finish when it’s ground and polished. A new slab isn’t essential, though, as we can also diamond polish existing concrete floors depending on their condition.
Selsey, West Sussex
Polished concrete floor - new build home
Floorcraft poured the entire downstairs floor of this large new-build home in Selsey, West Sussex. The total area was approximately 300 sq m, with around 200 sq m finished as power floated concrete and 100 sq m as diamond polished concrete. In the kitchen, the client wanted the floor to work with the green worktops, so we added green granite aggregate to the concrete mix. The floor was then diamond polished to create the gloss finish shown in the photos, without using a resin coating.
Hayling Island, Hampshire
Polished concrete floor repair and refurbishment
Floorcraft was asked to refurbish a polished concrete floor at a home on Hayling Island, Hampshire, which had originally been poured and polished around 12 years earlier. It wasn’t going to be possible to match the crack repairs exactly, so instead we made a feature of them using a rich gold resin. This gave the existing floor a new lease of life without the client having to take it up and replace it.

Diamond polished concrete workshop floor
Floorcraft was asked to diamond polish a workshop floor in Surrey that had previously needed repainting around every 12 months. The building was getting on in years and either the damp proof membrane had failed or there was no dpm, so when you entered the room you could smell the damp. The paint was trapping the damp. Once the paint had been removed, we applied a breathable sealer and diamond polished the concrete. The finished floor is much brighter thanks to the reflective surface and, instead of being regularly repainted, it can simply be cleaned when needed.
Chichester, West Sussex
Polished concrete floor - new build home
For this new-build home in Chichester, the client chose to use the concrete slab itself as the finished floor rather than adding another floor covering afterwards. Floorcraft poured 100mm of C35 concrete and added extra aggregate to the mix to enhance the finished appearance. After leaving the concrete to set for 30 days, we returned to grind and polish it to create the finished gloss floor.
Chichester, West Sussex
Polished concrete floor - kitchen extension
Floorcraft installed this polished concrete floor for a kitchen extension in Chichester, West Sussex. We poured 100mm of C35 concrete over the underfloor heating and left it to set for 30 days before returning to diamond polish the floor to a mirror finish. With white kitchen doors and black worktops planned for the room, black and white aggregate was added to the concrete mix to complement the finished kitchen.
