POLISHED CONCRETE FLOOR LONDON
A client requiring a floor of polished concrete in London called in Floorcraft Ltd again. They needed a polished concrete floor in their London home that was unique and as they could not find a flooring that fitted the bill anywhere.
After some consultation, we all came to the conclusion that mixing the concrete for the polished concrete floor in their London home was the only option.
Floorcraft Ltd ended up using a blend of white cement and white marble with a small amount of blue glass in it. However, that wasn’t the end of the decision making. In-floor lighting was also on the wanted list. Finally, we agreed on pouring the concrete over fibre optic strands so lighting could be pushed through the strands to give a stunning effect. Polished concrete was the only way to produce this effect. The concrete was poured to a depth of 100 mm.
This gives you your sub base concrete and your floor covering all at the same time, saving both time and money.
What its used for
POLISHED CONCRETE FLOORS
Our polished concrete floors services include power floated and diamond polished, each of which is completely different from each other. For starters, the finish for each is different: power floated has a marble-effect with no aggregate showing and a glossy finish, while diamond polished showcases all the stone’s colours in the concrete and has a glassy-looking finish.
The diamond-polished concrete service is certainly a more lengthy process. After the concrete has been poured, it takes at least 30 days to harden. After that, we will come back to your site to begin the grinding and polishing process. When enough concrete has been ground away and aggregate visibility increases, this is when we begin to polish the concrete and the colours begin to shine through. What’s more, you can even choose the colour of the concrete and the aggregate to really make it your own.
FloorCraft will do whatever it takes to get the exact aggregate you want or, alternatively, combine materials for your desired Colour.
Although diamond polish concrete was originally developed for commercial and industrial use, FloorCraft began experimenting with our own designs, giving us the opportunity to provide these services to homeowners as well. We will provide you with a range of samples to help generate a sense of what you’re looking for. From there, you’ll be able to choose from a variety of coloured aggregate that will be mixed with the concrete. Finally, FloorCraft will then diamond polish the surface until the desired effect of the aggregate and concrete is met.
