A client requiring a floor of polished concrete in London called in Floorcraft Ltd again. They needed a polished concrete floor in their London home that was unique and as they could not find a flooring that fitted the bill anywhere. After some consultation, we all came to the conclusion that mixing the concrete for the polished concrete floor in their London home was the only option.
Floorcraft Ltd ended up using a blend of white cement and white marble with a small amount of blue glass in it. However, that wasn't the end of the decision making. In-floor lighting was also on the wanted list. Finally, we agreed on pouring the concrete over fibre optic strands so lighting could be pushed through the strands to give a stunning effect. Polished concrete was the only way to produce this effect. The concrete was poured to a depth of 100 mm. This gives you your subbase concrete and your floor covering all at the same time, saving both time and money.
